The bigger the government, the more bureaucratic it becomes and more cumbersome it is to get things done. Of course, it also creates a larger tax burden.
Bureaucracy expands to increase its influence and create more work to justify its existence. The bureaucratic work ethic – the less you do, the fewer mistakes you can make: if you do nothing, you make no mistake.
We become overly dependent on our government for every problem we encounter.
We need to keep the government as small and efficient so that, we, the people can have the flexibility to come up with workable solutions. We need to change the relationship between the civil servants and the citizens they serve into one of cooperative effort to make Hong Kong better. This can be done by making our government more transparent.
